After a week on the road capturing images from the Oregon coast to Minnesota, I have created a gallery of photos on my website. Rather than creating the same gallery on my blog, here is the link to the site: http://northernvisionsmedia.com/?page_id=2727

Under the Gaze of Eagles
Across the Salmon River, north of Stanley, ID, and on the other side of the road, atop the power line, eagles had built an enormous nest and were tending to their young.
The Barn with an Owl
The barn in which the owl was hiding from the bright light of day.
The Owl
While photographing an abandoned old barn in Mackay, Idaho, I spotted this owl perched on the rafter.

Mayflies and Mosquitoes
Thompson Reservoir, Carlton, MN
It would have been a much more peaceful evening if the mayflies hadn’t been in the middle of a major hatch and the mosquitoes hadn’t been so thick. But, that’s northern Minnesota for you.
This will be my last post from Minnesota this month as I am headed to Oregon later this week for an extended photo trip. I will be beginning with a sunset composition along the coast and then be driving back through the mountains, visiting Yellowstone and, I hope, Devil’s Tower. I am also planning to shoot some prairie homesteads and wide open spaces in the Dakotas.
On the Beach
Playing with arrangements and allowing the waves to wash over and add shine.
Gliding in the Mist
Early on the water, gliding through the mist. BWCAW.
Kiss of Sunlight
I love the textures in this image. The grass in the foreground, the reflected clouds and the sunlight capping it off at the top. Also, the shape of the clouds gives the illusion of depth to the center of the image, making it seem almost three dimensional.
Time By the Lake
I recently spent a couple days at a northern Minnesota lake doing a bit of fishing and, of course, a bit of photography. There’s something about early morning and late afternoon light on water that is hard to resist. Especially when the water is smooth and the clouds contribute to the composition.
