A Necessary Absence

My last post, for several reasons, was twenty days ago. I had been on a good run with my blog and regret the gap. I was busy with preparing for an exhibit of eight canvas prints that will be hung on June first. I also had a bout of the Greek alphabet, which lasted almost a week. Feeling much better now and have finished the canvases, plus finally got back out to do a bit of photography while the spring flowers are making their presence known in the local forests.

First up, a couple of sun soaked ferns.

The Fly!

The weather is finally warming and various signs of spring are showing up in nature, including insects.

While making one last visit to see the pelicans I spotted this fly warming itself on an information plaque.

Every year around mid-April, a large number of pelicans arrive to spend time on the St. Louis River near Duluth. Photographers and sightseers alike come out to view the birds and enjoy their layover.
