2022 #OptOutside Jay Cooke State Park

Once again I chose to skip the mayhem of Black Friday shopping and join the many who prefer to spend time outdoors rather than in lines at the mall. This year I was accompanied by family and friends at Jay Cooke State Park, which, like all Minnesota state Parks, was open to the public for free admission on Black Friday.

Two Views, Same Lighthouse!

The light on Wisconsin Point at the entrance to the Superior Entry to the harbor shared by Superior and Duluth. This location is also the original mouth of the St. Louis River where it flows in to Lake Superior.

A View from Tischer Creek

Glensheen Mansion is located in Duluth, Minnesota on the shore of Lake Superior and is available for tours throughout the year. Our local camera club is invited a few times each year to access the grounds and share our photos with the public.

Remembering

Each year on November 10th, a ceremony is held at the Split Rock Lighthouse on the north shore of Lake Superior to commemorate the loss of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Normally, the light is not on during the year, however, a couple of times it gets turned on for special events.
