Autumn Road

Since the sun wouldn’t work with me, I chose to push the colors a bit to achieve the desired effect.  I think if the light had been a bit brighter, the image would have a more natural tone.

The Final Moment?

In June of 2017 I posted the image and text below on Monochromia.  This morning, September 20th, 2018, after 96 years, she left this life and moved on to her next adventure.  She did so quietly and peacefully and I hope she enjoys the journey.

A brief moment by the lake before the cool breeze pushed back, then the moment was gone.  But, for that moment, an opportunity to commune with the Great Lake, to listen to the song of the waves, to be touched by fingers of wind as they move through her hair.  How many more of these moments exist for her, for any of us?

After Dark

Recently, after hearing that there would be better than normal northern lights, I headed out to my chosen destination and set up for the show.  Sadly, it turns out the show started after I gave up and went home; however, I at least tried to capture some night sky shots, something I haven’t done much of.  The results are a good starting point to help me learn how to do better in the future and how to improve my post production.  One lesson is to not pick a very windy night as it leads to camera shake on the tripod.  Next time I will not extend the tripod all the way open, keeping more rigid and close to the ground.
