Tall Ships at Sunrise

default

The tall ships have returned after being absent due to the damnpenic. Previous years, the ships came to Duluth Minnesota ,however, this year they are in Two Harbors which is about 25 miles up the shore of Lake Superior. To avoid the crowds, I arrived around 5:30AM and flew my drone out over the harbor.

The Ones With Sails…

The 2019 Festival of Sail was somewhat disappointing due to the lack of the grander tall ships.  This year there were only two true tall ships, the U.S. Brig Niagara and the S/V Denis Sullivan.  They were joined by the smaller vessels, Abbey Road, Appledore V and Gerhard Folgero.

All Quiet On The Waterfront

The ships are gone, the crowds are gone and the harbor is back to a less chaotic state of being.  The Tall Ships Festival was amazing, the number of people that attended was staggering and the ships beautiful.  But it’s nice to have things a bit quieter, more peaceful and less crowded.

Duluth Tall Ships Festival

Today marked the beginning of the Duluth Tall Ships Festival and thousands of people showed up to watch as the ships entered the shipping channel on their way to dock in the harbor.  As much as I don’t enjoy large crowds, I couldn’t resist being where I could capture all the action as the ships passed.
