Morning Sky over Lake Superior

Image

I have not often seen this type of banding in the morning sky, but thought it was pretty interesting.

A Tough Choice

Horizontal or vertical? For me, it’s a tough choice as to which one I will print. On the ledge rock at Gooseberry Falls State Park in northern Minnesota with a Fujifilm GFX 100s and Venus Optics Loawa 17mm lens.

Dawn’s Early Light

Image

Shortly before the sun broke the horizon. Shot from the north pier with a view of both lighthouses. Captured using my Loawa 17mm f/4 on Fujifilm GFX 100s.

Sunrise and Sunset

In August of 2016 I captured an image of the Paul R. Tregurtha as she left the harbor and headed out to Lake Superior. The sunrise painted a lovely glow down her side as she steamed away.

Fast forward to January 2022 and the same ship is arriving back to the harbor at sunset. The two images will make for a perfect triptych.

December Rain and a Muddy Waterfall

Gooseberry Falls

In twenty-four hours, the weather in northern Minnesota went from warm and foggy, to an overnight thunder storm and then a snowstorm the next morning. Very strange weather for us in December but, it did make the north shore rivers and stream more interesting.
